Description
Arts Capital, administered by the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC), provides state capital funding for arts facilities operated by eligible Maryland organizations. It supports expansion, renovation, major repairs, and new construction resulting in a complete, usable, accessible facility for public arts-based cultural education or experiences. Facilities must be permanent structures usable for public programming.
The program strongly encourages energy-efficient building methods and technologies, improved accessibility for people with disabilities, and projects that expand programming or reach broader audiences. Priorities include increasing access for people of color and people living below the federal poverty level, and expanding usable programming space. Legislation allocated $3 million annually for six fiscal years, FY2024–FY2029.
