Arts in Society is administered by RedLine Contemporary Art Center and funded by a cohort of Colorado foundations and government agencies. It supports projects that integrate arts and culture with other disciplines to improve the health and well-being of Coloradans. Artists, activists, and organizations can use the program to address civic, social, environmental, or health challenges through socially engaged art.
The program emphasizes collaboration among artists, organizations, and communities. Supported work spans many issues and media, from dance addressing nurse burnout to art supporting participatory budgeting and public health communication. Selection priorities include artistic excellence, cultural relevance, community engagement, cross-sector work, and opportunities for shared learning. Alongside project funding, grantees receive organizational support and join a statewide learning community to exchange expertise with fellow practitioners.
