The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC) administers this grant for arts projects that develop or enhance local artists, arts resources, and audiences in northwestern Minnesota. It supports cities, counties, and nonprofit organizations, including historical organizations, fairs, healthcare organizations, and new arts nonprofits. School districts have a separate applicant category.
Supported activities include sponsoring theatrical productions, bringing folk artists to festivals, offering artist-led community workshops, and creating public art such as murals and sculpture. Projects should bring high-quality arts experiences into community and public life, address barriers to participation, and expand arts knowledge or skills. Funding for these organizational grants comes from the Minnesota State Legislature through the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund of the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.
