Description
The ARVO Foundation Research Catalyst Award supports investigators beginning their careers or returning to research after an extended leave. Established in 2023 and offered through the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), the award is funded by the ARVO Foundation to help investigators develop an initial project around a promising research idea. An additional annual award, supported by the International Retinal Research Foundation, funds a project in retina.
Projects should have a defined research goal, clear significance, sound design and methodology, and expected outcomes with potential clinical impact or prospects for subsequent research funding. The program emphasizes access to institutional time, resources, and existing infrastructure, together with involvement from a mentor or senior colleague to help the project succeed.
