The Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) funds fellowships supporting scientific travel by biochemists and molecular biologists, from the second year of PhD training through five years after their PhD award. The program assists recipients attending overseas conferences in biochemistry or molecular biology, or visiting research laboratories in Australia or overseas to learn new research techniques.
Up to five fellowships are awarded annually. Recipients also receive complimentary registration for the annual ASBMB conference through a Collins Bursary and, wherever possible, attend to receive their award. They must report on their conference attendance or laboratory work for publication in the Australian Biochemist. One fellowship each year may be designated the Fred Collins Award for exceptionally strong research.
