    Description

The Member Research Grant is administered by the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) Education and Research Fund. Supported by contributions from members, clinical and medical laboratory science practitioners, and corporate underwriters, it provides direct funding for investigations addressing issues critical to laboratory medicine and health care. The Fund’s research support is intended as seed funding for pilot studies, preliminary data collection, and investigators new to laboratory medicine research.

Investigations must advance knowledge in one of five targeted areas: clinical laboratory education, patient safety, the value of laboratory services, the value of educated personnel, or translational research. These areas encompass educational innovation, testing quality and clinical efficacy, workforce development, health disparities, and applications that reduce disease incidence, morbidity, and mortality. Investigators are encouraged to share their findings at the ASCLS Annual Meeting and through publication in Clinical Laboratory Science.
