The ASCO Clinical Oncology & Research Experience (ASCO CORE) is designed to introduce U.S. medical students (MD or DO) to the field of oncology through immersive, mentored experiences in either clinical oncology or clinical oncology-related research. The program offers two tracks: the Clinical Oncology Experience, emphasizing direct patient care, and the Research Experience, focusing on hands-on research. Each participant is paired with an experienced mentor for academic and career guidance. The program includes required attendance at the ASCO Annual Meeting for orientation and networking, a mentored rotation or research project, and concludes with a Virtual Showcase where participants present their work. The overall aim is to foster early interest in oncology and provide valuable exposure to both clinical and research career pathways.
