The American Society of Emergency Radiology (ASER) runs this grant program to support investigator-initiated research and program evaluation of broad importance to emergency radiology. Named in honor of Dr. Kathirkamanathan Shanmuganathan, a pioneer in emergency and trauma imaging, the award helps investigators move single-institution work toward multicenter collaboration, build institutional partnerships, and evaluate innovations in emergency radiology education.
Supported work may evaluate curricula and educational activities, compare imaging protocols across centers, or use surveys and data collection to establish best practices and benchmarks. The program also encourages interdisciplinary research and educational efforts involving emergency radiologists, emergency medicine physicians, and trauma surgeons, with the goal of enabling larger research and educational innovations.
