The American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) offers this annual research grant, supported by Stryker, to provide research assistance to General members. The award supports the ASES Foundation’s mission to develop and provide resources that advance shoulder and elbow care. It was established through the generosity of Dr. Felix Savoie, Dr. Anthony Romeo, Dr. Matthew Ramsey, and Dr. William Levine.
Past funded work spans clinical outcomes, biomechanics, infection research, and technology applications. Projects have investigated extended-reality outcome notation, treatments for massive irreparable rotator cuff tears, implant loosening in shoulder arthroplasty, blue light therapy for Cutibacterium acnes, health literacy, and machine learning to predict admission costs. The ASES Research Committee reviews applications.
