    Description

The American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy (ASGCT) Career Development Awards support early-career scientists and postdoctoral fellows developing independent research careers. The program funds transformative pilot studies, particularly ideas difficult to support through conventional funding mechanisms. It aims to help investigators generate independent preliminary data for larger proposals, including NIH K awards and first-submission R-level funding.

ASGCT supports six broad research areas spanning vectors, genome editing, oligonucleotides, cell therapies, immunology, and non-viral delivery. Partner foundations support additional awards for Angelman syndrome therapeutics, cystic fibrosis research, and focused ultrasound applications in gene and cell therapy. Partner funding does not influence the program’s content, and applications are reviewed within the research category submitted.
