Description
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) runs this paid, 12-month postgraduate fellowship to develop future association executives. Based at ASHP headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, fellows work closely with senior leadership and staff, receiving direct mentorship while supporting projects and strategic initiatives affecting the association and pharmacy profession. The program develops leadership, communication, problem-solving, and executive management skills rather than focusing on direct patient care.
Experiences include short-term and longitudinal projects customized to fellows’ interests and the program’s learning objectives. Training spans executive leadership and governance, advocacy, membership, practice standards, publishing, marketing, strategic planning, finance, human resources, public relations, education, information technology, product development, accreditation, and conference management. Fellows participate in leadership meetings, national conferences, and consensus-building events.
