The Doctoral Dissertation Proposal Scholarship is sponsored by the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) and administered by its Awards & Honors Committee. Established in 1981, it recognizes the year’s most outstanding doctoral dissertation proposal while encouraging and assisting doctoral students with their research. The program encompasses the communication activities and information science and technology fields covered by the Association, including work on how information is organized, retrieved, represented, communicated, and used.
The scholarship prioritizes research with potential significance to information science, sound methodology and analysis, originality, and a clear, complete proposal. Applicants should demonstrate a convincing plan for timely completion and continuing interest in scholarship. The recipient receives recognition at the ASIS&T Annual Meeting and an opportunity to present their research there.
