Key Information: Individual research projects and ongoing or recurrent activities are not supported.
The American Society for Legal History (ASLH), through its Projects and Proposals Committee, funds new initiatives in the study, presentation, and production of legal historical scholarship and its communication to public audiences. Supported activities include conferences, scholarly publications, museum exhibits, teaching experiments, and other collective pursuits. Conference funding may help participants who could not otherwise afford to attend.
The committee seeks to bring new voices into legal history, encourage novel forms of scholarly interchange, support pedagogical experimentation, and develop new forms and venues for public history. It particularly encourages projects that internationalize the field, either by widening its study or connecting scholars and students globally, and projects that bring a younger generation into legal history. The emphasis is on new endeavors and outreach rather than recurring activities.
