This grant program supports organizations working to increase the capacity and efficiency of programs focused on adopting out retired Thoroughbred racehorses. The initiative encourages innovative approaches—such as enhanced training, medical rehabilitation, new adopter engagement, and cross-industry collaborations—to improve humane outcomes for these horses. Projects should aim to increase the number of horses rehabilitated and placed, reduce their length of stay, lower care costs, and minimize risks or suffering. Proposals are evaluated for their potential to make a measurable impact within a 12-month period, with an emphasis on sustainability and innovative solutions.
