    Description

The East and Inner Asia Council (EIAC) of the Association for Asian Studies administers small grants for dissertation-level graduate students and scholars with special interests in China, Taiwan, or Inner Asia. Awards are supported by the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation and AAS member donations. The program funds short research trips, travel directly related to scholarly translation projects, and specialist or regional newsletters and websites that disseminate important information to their fields.

Research travel proposals should explain their contribution both to the broader field and to their specific subfield. Applicants should identify clear research questions, intended achievements, methods and materials, and the reasons for selecting particular research sites or archives. Evidence of feasibility, such as local contacts and archive access, is also expected.
