Key Information: Institutional submission quotas apply, and projects must commit to industry R&D spending and/or industry partnership KPIs.
The Biomanufacturing Technology and Partnership (BioTAP) Funding Initiative is an RIE2030 initiative implemented by A*STAR to strengthen Singapore’s competitiveness in biopharma manufacturing across conventional and emerging therapeutic modalities. It connects public-sector research with industry needs through research, translation and capability development, including process optimisation, digitalisation, sustainability and manufacturing technology innovation.
The first call, Accelerate Translation & GMP Readiness, supports pre-GMP process development and piloting, alongside Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls (CMC) know-how and analytical capability development. It targets manufacturing bottlenecks and translational risks through scalable processes, manufacturing-relevant demonstrations, product characterisation, quality assurance and reusable tools or platforms. The emphasis is on evidence and capabilities supporting subsequent GMP implementation, clinical development and industry adoption—not a requirement to execute GMP manufacturing itself. Broadly applicable capabilities benefiting multiple products or industry stakeholders are particularly encouraged.
