The Second Executive Programme is a bilateral research call administered by Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) and Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI). Its Joint Research Projects scheme co-funds collaborative research between the two countries for the 2027–2029 programme, strengthening scientific and technological cooperation and Singapore researchers’ capacity to collaborate with Italian counterparts.
Projects must address advanced technologies—artificial intelligence, robotics, quantum technology or space technologies—or health/medical research covering aging, translational medicine and neuroscience. Industry participation is encouraged but optional. The programme positively evaluates early-career scientist involvement and prioritizes partnerships with industrial impact or multiple research organizations. Funding across all listed research areas is not guaranteed: selection depends on proposal scientific quality and available annual resources.
