    Description

The American Sexually Transmitted Diseases Association (ASTDA) Summer Research Fellowship supports mentored research on sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and sexual health during a three- to four-month academic summer break. It gives graduate and professional students and postdoctoral trainees protected time to pursue a focused project while exploring or advancing a research career in the field.

The fellowship combines financial support with structured guidance from experienced investigators. It emphasizes scientific rigor, methodological skill development, professional growth, and mentoring relationships that extend beyond the summer. The program also encourages established STI and sexual health researchers to mentor trainees, recognizing their contributions through an honorarium. Priority is given to applicants newer to STI or sexual health research.
