Summary: Supports independently sponsored research advancing knowledge of products, diseases, medical conditions, and technologies.
Key Information: The investigator or organization remains the independent sponsor, responsible for study design, conduct, analysis, and dissemination.
Astellas’s Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) program supports unsolicited, independent studies that advance medical and scientific knowledge and innovation. Areas of interest identify compounds with open programs and help investigators assess fit with Astellas’s research priorities. Alignment with these interests does not guarantee support.
In Japan, the program supports clinical and nonclinical research using Astellas medicines to establish better treatments. Clinical studies generally must follow indications, administration, and doses approved in Japan. Nonclinical proposals may investigate activity in new diseases, prioritizing diseases without treatment options or inadequately served by existing medicines. The independent sponsor retains legal and ethical responsibility for the research, including safety, and holds any required investigational new drug application or equivalent.
