    Description

Astellas’ Access to Health, Sustainability initiative funds action-based programs addressing barriers to organ donation and transplantation information, decision-making, and care for underserved populations. Programs should improve understanding of donation, encourage people to document and communicate their wishes, help families honor donors’ expressed wishes after death, and strengthen appropriate referral and support pathways.

The initiative emphasizes culturally appropriate education delivered with trusted local stakeholders and activities with demonstrated impact and potential for sustainable, locally owned implementation. Eligible approaches include family counseling, community health worker or navigator models, training for healthcare professionals and community leaders, and coordination between healthcare providers and transplant-related services. Programs should ideally launch in healthcare settings. Multinational programs receive priority, particularly those focused on South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, and/or Vietnam.
