Description
The American Society for Theatre Research (ASTR) supports scholarly and creative research exchanges across academic and community contexts within the United States and between U.S. scholars or artists and colleagues abroad. The award aims to build long-term relationships among faculty working in different institutional environments, advance subject areas underrepresented in U.S. theatre scholarship, pedagogy, and performance practice, and enrich and diversify ASTR’s membership.
Supported exchanges include reciprocal faculty visits between two U.S. institutions or hosting a faculty member between a U.S. institution and an institution abroad. In specific circumstances, a one-way visit by a scholar or artist from an under-resourced institution may qualify if it otherwise fulfills the award’s objectives. Outcomes may combine publications, conference presentations, collaborative practical work, student workshops, and public lectures.
