Description
This Fulbright U.S. Scholar award supports research at the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS), undertaken in collaboration with its Astronomy & Astrophysics Section. Scholars propose their own research project within an appropriate specialization. Preferred interests include planetary science, planetary magnetospheres, solar physics, space weather, exoplanets, star and planet formation, and the interstellar medium. Competitive applications demonstrate clear alignment with the host’s strategy, goals, or new areas of mutual interest.
The award also advances Fulbright’s mission of strengthening relationships between people in the United States and other nations through international understanding and cooperation. Alongside research, scholars may be asked to give public talks, mentor students, and engage with the host community. Accommodation is provided at historic Dunsink Observatory in suburban Dublin, which hosts researchers from the DIAS Section.
