The National Humanities Center (NHC) runs this program in partnership with Duke University and the Institute of International Education’s Scholar Rescue Fund. As part of a commitment to academic freedom and a response to the global refugee crisis, the partners support threatened and displaced scholars by providing a haven to pursue their work in safety and an environment designed to foster scholarly excellence.
Selected scholars become Visiting Scholars at Duke University and Resident Associates at NHC, enabling them to continue research and enjoy the benefits available to other members of these scholarly communities. The Center’s residential research setting offers an in-person intellectual community, library and reference support, and other resources for researchers.
