Description
Banff Centre’s Audio Recording Engineer: Indigenous Music program is a continuing education experience for emerging recording engineers with mature artistic insight, advanced practical skills, and significant professional experience or high-level professional training. Participants support musicians in the Mâwacihitowinihk Nikamowak: Indigenous Music Residency and Banff Centre’s broader recording needs through hands-on applied learning.
Mentoring, class sessions, and professional practice develop recording and post-production techniques across different equipment and software. Participants gain experience in studio sessions and live concert recording spanning jazz, traditional acoustic, contemporary, and popular music. The program aims to expand technical proficiency and creativity while strengthening communication with musicians, knowledge of industry practices, and professional connections with engineers, musicians, and artists in other disciplines.
