Description
Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity’s Audio Recording Engineer program provides continuing education for emerging recording engineers with mature artistic insight, advanced practical skills, and significant professional experience or a high level of professional training. Integrated into the Intercultural Music Residency: Soundweavings, it combines mentoring, class sessions, and professional practice while supporting the recording needs of participating musicians and Banff Centre.
Participants develop recording and post-production techniques using varied equipment and software. Applied work includes live concert recording across traditional and contemporary genres, studio sessions with diverse repertoire, and communication strategies for collaborating with musicians. International faculty, producers, engineers, and technologists provide mentoring, seminars, and workshops. The program aims to expand technical proficiency, nurture creativity, deepen knowledge of industry practices, and build connections with engineers, musicians, and artists in other disciplines.
