The American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP) offers this fellowship to help female scientists move to another career track or strengthen their prospects in their preferred career path. Established through Professor Audrey S. Bingel’s bequest to the ASP Foundation, it reflects her interests in women’s health, challenges affecting female researchers, and mentoring young female scientists. It addresses circumstances such as pregnancy, childbirth, childcare, care of an elderly or ill parent, and workplace gender bias.
The fellowship takes a flexible approach to both financial need and supported activities. Funds may provide research time, formal training, sabbaticals, internships with a new focus, or seed funding for a genuinely new research direction. Other possible uses include course buy-outs, bridging childcare costs, and time for grant writing, job hunting, or scientific meetings.
