    Description

The American Orthopaedic Association (AOA) runs the Austrian-Swiss-German Traveling Fellowship to promote international travel and the exchange of medical ideas. Fellows spend three to four weeks visiting orthopaedic centers. In even years, two American and one British orthopaedic surgeons tour Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. In odd years, one Austrian, one Swiss, and two German orthopaedic surgeons tour North America.

Host institutions organize academic, leadership, and social programs to help fellows develop their leadership skills, research, and career goals. Hosts may draw on distinctive academic or historical settings to shape the experience. The Traveling Fellowship Subcommittee also encourages several institutions in one area to share hosting duties, adding diversity to the tour.
