The Crisp Award for Innovative Mindset (Crisp AIM), administered by the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA), supports the initial exploration of potentially ground-breaking concepts in Friedreich’s ataxia (FA) research. It honors former FARA Board Director and Advisor Peter Crisp, a champion of cutting-edge ideas. The award seeks work that fosters new directions, brings fresh perspectives to the field, and addresses neglected issues rather than making incremental advances upon published findings.
Supported studies are expected to lay the groundwork for future scientific investigation through a well-formulated, testable hypothesis grounded in a strong scientific rationale and study design. Investigators must explicitly explain the project’s innovation within FA research. Preliminary or published data are encouraged but are not required.
