The Association for Women Geoscientists (AWG) presents the Mid-Career Excellence Award annually to recognize outstanding women scientists working in academia, government, and industry. Up to three awards may be given each year, with one award in each professional category. The award focuses on professional accomplishments and community service rather than support for a particular research project.
AWG describes mid-career as a stage of established experience and expertise, with many years remaining to gain experience, advance qualifications, and pursue leadership roles. Nominees are evaluated on the impact and breadth of their scientific contributions, outstanding community service, and additional criteria specific to their professional category.
