Description
AxIOM (Accelerating Innovation in Mathematics) is a series of month-long research programs hosted by the Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute (SLMath) in Berkeley, California. Researchers participate for one to four weeks in a focused environment for intensive collaboration, contributing to the program while gaining new insights and advancing their research.
Each program centers on a timely mathematical theme, ranging from foundational challenges to intersections with artificial intelligence, data science, biology, physics, and medicine. Programs may build on recent workshops or semester-long research programs, or explore emerging technologies and classical problems through new approaches. The goals include cross-disciplinary knowledge exchange, progress on cutting-edge problems, real-world impact, and the development of lasting research collaborations.
