Description
Established by the Arizona Legislature in 2022 and administered by the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT), the AZ SMART Fund helps eligible cities, towns, counties and ADOT compete for federal discretionary surface transportation grants. The State Transportation Board approves all awards.
Support covers grant development and submission, non-federal match, and design and engineering expenditures that meet federal standards. Projects may involve roads, bridges, transit, rail, or related facilities such as bicycle and pedestrian paths and trails. The project must be eligible under the federal grant identified in the AZ SMART application.
