The Andrew McDonough B+ Foundation funds childhood cancer research guided by recommendations from its Scientific Advisory Board of pediatric oncology clinicians and researchers. The program supports basic, translational, and clinical studies that may lead toward cures and better treatments for childhood cancers. All proposed research must be directly related to pediatric cancer.
Supported work investigates how cancers develop, spread, resist treatment, and relapse, alongside new therapeutic approaches and ways to reduce treatment toxicity. Recent projects address leukemia, neuroblastoma, brain tumors, lymphoma, and bone and soft tissue cancers. Research approaches include targeted drugs, immune cell therapies, radiation delivery, cancer genetics, and models of the tumor microenvironment. The foundation also supports patient-reported outcomes and survivorship research aimed at improving care and quality of life.
