The Clifford E. Lee Choreography Award is a biennial award administered by Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and supported by the Clifford E. Lee Artist Fund. It supports an emerging Canadian choreographer through the creation, development, and presentation of an ambitious new contemporary dance work. Proposals may draw on movement research, interdisciplinary collaboration, cultural and traditional forms, experimentation, and new technologies.
Two residencies over two years connect artistic inquiry with professionally supported production. The creative residency offers uninterrupted studio time for experimentation, collaboration, and revision without pressure to complete a production. The production residency provides two weeks of development, a performance venue, and a professional technical team, culminating in a public performance or presentation.
