Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity offers this three-week intensive led by Stephanie Lake Company artists. Contemporary dancers from Canada and internationally come together to learn and perform Colossus, a large-scale ensemble work exploring individual agency, leadership, conformity, resistance, and connection within a group.
The program combines professional training, artistic development, and firsthand experience of the company’s creative practice. Participants explore complex movement material, task-based creation, vocalization, and structured improvisation while developing precision, stamina, spatial awareness, responsiveness, and trust. Rehearsals strengthen technical, interpretive, and collaborative skills, progressing from studio work to the integration of lighting, costume, and staging. The intensive culminates in two fully produced public performances.
