Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity’s Executive Leadership for Arts and Culture Leaders develops organizational leadership capacity for navigating growth, change, and increased accountability. Complementing its Wise Practices in Arts Leadership course, the program explores how purpose, self-awareness, and relationship-centred leadership inform strategic decisions, resource stewardship, and organizational effectiveness.
Through real-world case studies, experiential learning, peer learning, and practical application, participants move beyond operational management toward guiding teams and making decisions under pressure. Topics include team development, fundraising as a leadership function, audience relevance, strategic choices, and organizational resilience. The course also examines how power, influence, competing priorities, and tensions within senior leadership teams shape decisions, with the aim of strengthening alignment, purpose, and performance.
