This self-directed residency provides individual musicians, composers, music researchers, and ensembles from any genre with focused time and space to develop original projects in a collaborative, supportive mountain environment at the Banff Centre. Participants benefit from 24-hour access to personal music studios, mentorship by acclaimed faculty, opportunities for peer collaboration and interdisciplinary exchange, and public performance events. The program encourages artistic risk-taking, experimentation, and self-recording, and offers limited studio recording opportunities in conjunction with the Audio Recording Engineer Professional Training Program. Residents also have access to campus resources, group seminars, and Banff National Park activities.
