Description
BARD runs this program in partnership with the Israeli Ministry of Agriculture’s Office of the Chief Scientist. It supports research and development that advances land-based aquaculture systems and agricultural production under desert conditions, with priorities in food security, quality protein production, and sustainable, climate-smart agriculture.
Aquaculture research may improve understanding of biological and ecological systems involving fish, algae, and seafood, advance fish diversity and quality, and help conserve aquatic resources in Israel and the United States. Desert farming research focuses on managing agricultural production under desert conditions. Projects should address agricultural problems of mutual interest to both countries and produce tangible results that can be implemented within a reasonable time. Program implementation is contingent upon timely formal funding approval by the Israeli governmental authority.
