Description

This program supports Rhode Island-based nonprofit organizations that provide direct emergency assistance to individuals and families in need. The grants are intended to address urgent basic needs—such as food, clothing, housing or rental assistance, prescription and utility assistance, transportation, child care for homeless families, and toiletries—by funding community agencies working on the front lines. Emphasis is placed on volunteer-driven organizations with limited operating budgets, though some larger organizations with a basic needs component may be eligible through alternative programs. Funding may be used to launch new programs or support existing ones, but cannot be the sole funding source for established programs. The program does not fund the distribution of goods or services to other nonprofits.
