The Bass Senior Visiting Fellowships support sustained research collaborations between accomplished senior scientists and Field Museum faculty in Chicago. Supported by the Bass Fund and administered through the Museum’s Science and Scholarship Funding Committee, the program sponsors one U.S. or international scientist to pursue a specific project during a three- to six-month visit. Research should rely substantially on the Museum’s collections, facilities, and/or expertise and lead to or contribute to peer-reviewed scientific publications.
The fellowship particularly encourages projects in Life Sciences, Social Sciences, or Earth and Planetary Sciences. Priorities include expertise that complements existing Museum strengths, clear scholarly and institutional impact, and projects that foster collaboration among individual research programs or include an interdisciplinary component.
