This grant supports outstanding, investigator-led research across the full breadth of the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) remit. It funds innovative and curiosity-driven projects in biosciences, including plant, microbial, animal, and human biology, as well as the development of new research tools and technologies. The scheme welcomes multidisciplinary proposals and those involving data-intensive approaches, community resources, research networks, and infrastructure. International collaboration is encouraged through project partners, but the lead applicant must be based at a UK research organisation eligible for BBSRC funding.
