Description
The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), within UKRI, supports excellent investigator-led research across its scientific remit. The programme has a strong commitment to curiosity-led bioscience involving plants, microbes, animals and humans, and the tools and technologies underpinning biological research. Investigations can span molecules, cells and tissues through to whole organisms, populations and landscapes.
Funding covers research projects, including data-intensive work and technology development, equipment, existing facilities, community resources, new facilities and infrastructure. Research networks, coordination and summer schools are also supported. Multidisciplinary proposals crossing research council boundaries are welcome, provided their primary focus remains within BBSRC’s remit. The programme seeks work that advances understanding or generates new knowledge, thinking or discovery, with potential benefits for research, society, the economy or the environment.
