The BDCRC Pilot Project Award is an additional funding pathway within the Batten Disease Global Research Initiative (BDGRI). Established through a 2025 partnership, it supports innovative, patient-focused research aligned with the Batten Disease Clinical Research Consortium (BDCRC), an NIH-funded Rare Diseases Clinical Research Network consortium. The opportunity is available through the BDCRC’s 2026–2030 funding cycle.
The shared research agenda addresses unmet needs across all forms of Batten disease, also known as neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCLs). Its goals are to accelerate therapeutic development, improve diagnosis and standards of care, and enhance patient quality of life and outcomes. Applicants opt into BDCRC consideration through the BDGRI Expression of Interest rather than submitting a separate application.
