The Benign Essential Blepharospasm Research Foundation (BEBRF) supports research directly related to the causes of, treatments for, and complications arising from treatments for benign essential blepharospasm or Meige Syndrome, both forms of cranial dystonia. Its annual call for proposals puts into practice the foundation’s charter commitment to research into the causes, cures, and treatment of blepharospasm.
The foundation provides seed or partial funding for research into new treatments, pathophysiology, and genetics of benign essential blepharospasm and oromandibular dystonia. It also considers research into photophobia, dry eye, and apraxia of eyelid opening. Proposals are reviewed by the foundation’s Medical Advisory Board, with final award decisions made by BEBRF.
