Description
The Beginning with Compeer Financial Grant Program helps beginning farmers develop their farm businesses and sustain farming as a way of life in the communities Compeer serves. Compeer Financial, a member of the Farm Credit System, offers assistance for professional services, business education, and development expenses rather than farm operating costs or equipment.
Supported activities include first-time use of tax preparation or farm accounting professionals, accounting software, business-related coursework, conferences, and workshops. The program also supports legal services for farm transitions and business development, FSA guarantee fees, and development of new value-added agricultural products at licensed food processing establishments. Additional funding is available for enrollment in specified multi-year farm business training programs.
