    Description

The Behavioral Health Capital Fund, administered by the New Mexico Finance Authority (NMFA) in partnership with the New Mexico Health Care Authority, offers low-cost financing to behavioral health clinics serving rural and underserved communities across New Mexico. Since its inception in 2004, the fund has expanded eligibility and uses, now supporting not only nonprofit clinics but also those owned by counties and municipalities. The program provides loans for infrastructure, equipment, and, as of 2023, working capital—including salaries and operating expenses. Clinics may also benefit from a contract-for-services option, allowing partial loan forgiveness in exchange for serving indigent patients.
