    Description

The Washington State Department of Commerce’s Behavioral Health Facilities Closure Prevention Program funds capital projects needed to keep existing behavioral health facilities in use. The program focuses on preserving facilities and services for publicly funded people rather than expanding capacity. Supported work includes physical repairs and upgrades on facility property, capital maintenance to meet current or impending licensing standards, and capital improvements that increase cash available for facility operations.

Services covered include crisis care, residential and inpatient mental health or substance use disorder treatment, mental health peer respite, opioid treatment, and outpatient services. Eligible settings also include enhanced services facilities and certain assisted living facilities with applicable licensing and contracts. Awards are made on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.
