Description
The Berenson Fellowship, administered by Villa I Tatti (Harvard University Center for Italian Renaissance Studies), is designed for scholars investigating the transnational dialogues between Italy and other cultures during the Renaissance (14th–17th centuries). The fellowship encourages projects that explore "Italy in the World," including interactions with Latin American, Mediterranean, African, Asian, and other cultures. Scholars from diverse fields—such as architecture, the arts, history, philosophy, literature, music, and the history of science—are eligible to apply. Fellows benefit from access to the Biblioteca Berenson, participation in an active intellectual community, and time to pursue their research with minimal obligations.
This is a residential fellowship: recipients must live in the Florence area and spend at least three days per week at the center. The fellowship term is for either 4 or 6 months, and up to four fellowships are awarded annually.
