Description
The Berlin University Alliance–Chicago Research Collaboration Initiative supports innovative research collaborations between faculty members in Berlin and Chicago. Launched by the Berlin University Alliance (BUA) in early 2026, it continues the University of Chicago’s summer 2025 call and seeks to explore opportunities for closer cooperation between the two cities’ research ecosystems.
The initiative’s priorities are to foster new research partnerships and lay the groundwork for larger collaborative research ventures. Its related Flexible Funds program provided seed funding for projects between the University of Chicago and the Berlin University Alliance in 2025. Funded work spans environmental research, psychedelic-assisted therapy, biology, urban research, and philosophical and literary inquiry.
