Description
The Berry Fund for Public Philosophy is a donor fund of the American Philosophical Association (APA). It supports the work of the APA’s Committee on Public Philosophy, whose goal is to find and create opportunities demonstrating the personal value and social usefulness of philosophy. The committee determines awards and reviews requests twice each year.
The fund strongly favors seed funding for new and innovative pilot projects over long-term, repeat, or sustaining support for established activities. It prefers projects that can serve as models for other institutions, whose recipients are willing to share information about their work, and that have already secured local support. Requests for ongoing initiatives should demonstrate potential to obtain continuing support from other sources.
