Description
CalRecycle’s Beverage Container Recycling Loan Program finances the development and improvement of California’s beverage container recycling infrastructure. Established by Assembly Bill 179 in 2022 and approved in November 2024, the program supports projects that increase recycling capacity and efficiency, expand existing certified processing facilities, establish new facilities, and convert recyclable beverage containers into intermediate or finished products.
The program prioritizes maximizing recovery of recyclable materials and addressing underserved areas of California, including areas with few redemption sites. Supported facilities prepare collected beverage containers for sale to end-users, such as beverage container production plants and fiberglass mills, where the materials become new products. Financing can support machinery, equipment, working capital, and facility improvements.
