Description
The Biennial Research Program, administered by Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant, funds collaborative research projects designed to advance the understanding, management, and wise use of Georgia’s coastal and marine ecosystems. The program emphasizes real-world impact by requiring integration of research, extension, and/or education components, and encourages partnerships among academic researchers, extension agents, community members, educators, and decision-makers. Projects must align with the organization's current strategic priorities and are expected to deliver results in accessible, actionable formats.
The program offers two types of awards:
- Planning Grants: Smaller awards to foster community engagement and build collaborative teams, often as groundwork for larger efforts.
- Collaborative Research Grants: Larger awards for interdisciplinary teams addressing well-defined research questions aligned with strategic priorities.
